I visit my parents every year for Christmas in Naples, and this year was no different…except for one thing. About 2 weeks prior to my scheduled trip to Naples, we found that my father had been diagnosed with T-cell lymphona…a very aggressive, and serious cancer. Determined not to let the devastating news put a damper on celebrating a wonderful Christmas, I flew out to Florida early (thank you entrepreneurship), and spent nearly a full 2 weeks with my family. It was, undoubtedly, the best and most celebrated Christmas of our lives. While my father started chemotherapy in January (and as I write this many months later, it has been much more challenging than I could have imagined), we celebrated properly. Though a bittersweet holiday, I can say this confidently: I had never appreciated a Christmas with my family more than I did in Christmas, 2014.
